After five weeks of living ‘The Lomax Way’, Mikey enlists in the healing hands of our in-house sports therapist, Nicki Merivale, to ease his aches and pains.
This will be my final blog post for this series *GASPS*. I’ll still be training and eating the same way for another 6-10 weeks but will be limiting my blog posts to once a month or so. I’ll give you a moment to let this sink in…
This week, training has been going well. I’ve increased my weights across the board and feel fitter than ever. My body is starting to show the signs of training 6 days a week, the good and the bad. My body is constantly aching but I’m almost convinced I saw one of my abs the other day, I swear! To address my aching muscles I enlisted the help of Nicki Merivale, long-serving Lomax employee and miracle massage wonder woman. I say this because I hate massages. I only ever get them when I need to because I find it hard to relax especially when a strange woman I don’t know with oily hands says, whilst rubbing your leg, ‘You’re so tense…’ Tell me about it!!!
But Nicki is no strange woman. Nicki is my friend and a nice lady, so I am gonna try really hard to not kick her.
It started as any massage normally does, with me nervously jabbering on about something irrelevant, but before I knew it, I was face down on the table half way up relaxation mountain having a chat with Buddha. It was the perfect balance between relaxation and muscle therapy. My aches were gone and I was in a state of euphoria. I was later found lying on a bed of towels in the basement, trying to recapture that magic. It was at this point that I realised I was an idiot for not having one sooner. After banging on about all the services Lomax offers, I forgot about the most important one.
Looking after your body is not just about getting a sweat on in the Pilates studio or the gym. Nor is it just about eating clean and watching your alcohol intake. Looking after yourself is also about pampering your body. Relaxation is just as important as activation, so every once in a while have a bath, get a massage, sleep till 12 and just take it easy. There’s no point in having a fit and healthy body if you can’t enjoy it.
To finish I’d like to say good luck with whatever challenges you have set yourself and thanks for reading. It’s been a pleasure writing.
PS. I’ve just qualified as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor and will be teaching my first Blast Class on Wednesday 22nd October. Come along if you wanna ask any questions about the blog or for any advice on your own workout regime. Cheers!
