Body By Lomax: The Wallace Transformation – Week Two

Two weeks in and Mikey has hit a few stumbling blocks… Nevertheless, he’s still looking forward. Onward and upward!

Some may say this is a bit deep for a weekly light hearted blog… and I’d probably agree with them, but it’s there now, so I’m gonna run with it. This week Mr Blake Glover kindly offered to help me out with my cardio. He’s a great guy and I’ve never not been 100% satisfied when I’ve trained with him, this is what we did…

Rowing Machine:
4x 5 minute random intervals, 1 minute rest
Stationary Bike:
4x 5 minute, 1 minute rest

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a great way to burn fat quickly and I love it because its short and sharp. I’m not a big fan of spending hours on one exercise so random intervals on the rowing machine is a favourite of mine. Next up on the bike, Blake really pushed me. We got to a pace that was in the midst of my anaerobic threshold. By training this way you can increase your lactic acid tolerance and raise your aerobic threshold, making you fitter. I was midway through and Blake told me to lift my head, keep focused on my goal, do not lose myself. What Blake showed me is that you should never lose yourself, no matter how hard it gets, keep looking forward to get the most out of any workout.

I was feeling too ill to train on Wednesday so I ran to the only person I knew could help, our in-house nutritionist and all round fit food fiend Francesca Fox. She hooked me up with an immune-boosting juice, The Super Green Veg…

THE SUPER GREEN VEG
Warrior NRG Vegan Protein
Kale
Celery
Cucumber
Watercress
Avocado
Lime

This got me back on track in time for training the next day, I kept looking forward.

When I reached Sunday I was having a whale of a time with my fellow thespians, participating in a theatre workshop, until I managed to do in my knee, badly. So Sunday night came along and I was sat in bed, wallowing in self pity, listening to the Fray (‘How to Save a Life’), contemplating what to do next. At this moment I remembered what my Mr Miyagi (Blake) told me earlier in the week, “Keep looking forward… don’t lose yourself”. The next day I lifted my head, made some tweaks to my program and got on with it.

No matter how hard it get’s or what the world throws at you, keep looking forward.

“This game is not over, this battle is not over.”
