The Health Benefits of Indoor Cycling

With over 8 years experience teaching indoor cycling under his belt, Anthony Garcia shares his top three health benefits of cycling classes.

The constant variation of intensity in an indoor cycling class (ie. sprint, recover, climb, recover) ensures that your heart is working at full tilt, melting fat in the most efficient manner.

Challenging yourself with heavy resistance in the hill climbing section of a class forces your muscles to adapt, constantly building upon your lower body strength. As you’re in control of the gear, you can push as much or as little as you want. But remember, change only occurs when you’re consistently pushing beyond your limits!

London life is stressful and too much stress can lead to high blood pressure, fat storage, poor concentration and poor sleep. Indoor cycling classes can help to decrease stress levels dramatically by releasing endorphins, the feel good neurotransmitters in the body. In my experience, I’ve seen increased levels of self confidence amongst regular class attendees which, while being a good thing in its own right, can also help with reducing symptoms associated with anxiety and depression.
