With summer almost upon us, Nutritional Therapist Natalia Otero explains why it is the perfect time to start thinking about detox and preparing your body for the warmer months to come.
To help prepare you for your summer detox, I have listed below some important nutrients for your body to enhance and help the detox process:
1. Milk Thistle
There have been studies done on milk thistle that’s proven it to be the number one herb that supports liver detoxification. Helps eliminate those toxins and support rebuilding your liver.
Containing an active compound called curcuma longa, turmeric has been shown to protect your body. So where Milk Thistle does a lot more in helping your body eliminate toxins, turmeric does it in a different way by really protecting your body against what’s called free-radical damage.
3. Chlorella & Spirulina
These can bind to heavy metals and help get them out of your body. It can help you eliminate them. I like to take one tablespoon a day in water to support detoxification.
4. Alpha Lipoic Acid
This is a versatile super-antioxidant, supporting normal blood sugar metabolism, vision health and detoxification.
This is also very good at helping you get rid of toxins in your body and is also very protective for the liver.
I also recommend incorporating probiotics in your diet on a regular basis such sauerkraut or kefir.
